| + | This presentation will introduce a corpus-sourced large-scale academic English multi-word unit list. A unique concgramming method was used in comparison to previous studies which used ngramming to provide better accuracy in regard to frequency and to avoid redundancy, and new software was created for this project to enable its scale. Procedures used to generate this academic multi-word unit list, how and why phrases were selected, and the general outcomes of the study will be explained. This study is significant in its resulting scale, but also in how it showed that most vocabulary in academic phrases are high-frequency, but just used in ways to create novel meanings. Comparisons will be made about the features found in the new list against existing lists, and the characteristics found between academic and general high-frequency English. Finally, how and where audience members can access this new, free resource will be explained. | ||
